Services for Australians in the UK
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) provides help to Australians who find themselves in trouble overseas. Through this support, known as consular services, the Department's consular officers provide a lifeline to Australians who are away from home. Further information on what we can and can't do can be found here.
If you require consular assistance while in the UK you can contact the Australian High Commission, Consular Section in London between 9am - 4:30pm weekdays Ph: 020 7887 5776. The section can also be contacted by way of email: firstname.lastname@example.org
The consular section cannot assist with matters relating to foreign or Australian visas, citizenship or residency matters. This includes citizenship by decent, spousal visas, or checking any application lodged with the Australian Home Affairs Department. Home Affairs can be contacted between the UK times, 9am – 5pm working weekdays - +61 2 6196 0196.
If you require assistance outside of business hours, or on a weekend you can call the Consular Emergency Centre, which is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on +61 2 6261 3305
